Living in Japan

Living in Japan · tools

Deadlines, fees, and the article behind them

Most procedures for living in Japan or starting a company can be filed by yourself. What usually blocks people is not eligibility but three gaps: not knowing the procedure exists, not knowing the deadline, not knowing where it goes. These tools answer only those three.

No sign-in, nothing stored. What you type lives only in the address bar. No application documents are produced here —— judgements about your particular case (whether it will pass, how it should be written) are the work of a gyoseishoshi and are not offered.

Where these numbers come from

Deadlines

Counted under Civil Code art. 140 (the first day is not counted) and art. 143(2), then shifted around administrative holidays. If the starting date is missing, no date is shown. Nothing is guessed.

Basis

Every entry carries the article, a link to the official source, and the day we checked it. Articles are read against the e-Gov originals, not secondary summaries.

Forms

Re-fetched from the issuing office every Monday; a checksum that differs from the baseline raises an alert. We find out when an office changes something —— at least we do not stay unaware.

Limits

No filing on your behalf, no submission on your behalf, no judgement on whether your case passes. When you need those, go to a licensed gyoseishoshi.
